Quick update! Dean and I went to WIC on Friday to let WIC know that my milk totally dried up and that he is needing to be on formula 100% now. But of corse i forgot the breast pump and the lady was a total witch! Anyone Dave brought the pump down so we could get the checks for formula. But, they made us switch formulas again. Which I knew might happen. They said that studies have shown that boy babies that are on soy formula tend to grow boobies. So they want him on a lactose free non soy formula. So he is taking Enfamil's LactoFree. He is take very well to it. I think it is way better than the soy. He has so much less gas now! Okay, well appointment is on the 17th so we will check back in then. XOXO

Well everything is going pretty good. Dean went in to the doctors office Monday because he has Thrush. They gave us a medication that is really working quickly. It is almost totally cleared up. Thrush is pretty much just a yeast infection in the mouth. I cant imagine it is very fun for him. Tuesday he gave Dave his first real smile. Later in the day i got my first real smile from him. he is changing so quickly, I cant believe he is four weeks old now! Time is flying by so fast. I am really dreading going back to work, just because I really wish we could afford for me to stay home, but life is such and work I shall do. Dean has his one month doctors appointment on the 17th of October so I will be doing a full update then. XOXO

Dean is doing so good on his weight gain!! I am so relieved that he is now 7 ounces above his birth weight. He seems to be gaining about 2-3 ounces a day which the doctor said is okay for right now. When he gets to an appropriate weight for his age then he will need to slow down the weight gain. Hopefully his body will stabilize and we wont have to switch formulas again.

Well, Dean has been doing so good today! I can't believe how much of a different child he has became in just one day of feeding him extra formula. He has been so happy and having long naps. Most days he only slept 15-20 mins at a time and today he would be up for an hour and sleep for an hour and eating 4-6oz every two hours. I just hope that he doesn't have colic and that just feeding him more will fix the fussiness.

Well the past two weeks have really flown by. Dean seems to be getting symptoms of colic. He crys from 8pm to about 12:30am every night and has the worst gas I have never seen. But if it is colic, we will deal just fine I am sure. Colic is supposed to last about three weeks. So I think we are about half way through it. The funny thing is, is that he is fine all day, then it hits 8pm and WAAAA! Headache kicks in full force! Last night i got smart and took Tylenol at 7:45! No headache last night. Plus I handed Dean off to Dave at about 9pm so I could go shower and get a quick break. It made it easier to deal with the fussiness getting that 5min shower in between the screams. Okay, well thats all for now. Dean's got hiccups really bad right now and he is going to get mad if I don't make them go away. :-)

Well, we had a doctors appointment this evening and Dean had lost 2 ounces. Not good. The doctor said that I am not getting my milk in as fast as I should. Which I was thinking that as well because I remember that with Tanner it came in really fast and in large amounts. So now I am supposed to breastfeed every two hours and then give Dean a bottle after I feed him and allow him to eat as much as he wants. So, I did that tonight and he ate four ounces! I could not believe it! Along with the eating issue I brought up his overwhelming fussiness every evening. As I continued to tell the doctor about everything we go through every evening he concluded that Dean has text book colic. We are possibley looking at dealing with this screaming every night until Dean is around three months old! I think I just may go insane if that is the case. I feel so bad for the little guy though. He can't be enjoying himself either screaming for four hours ever night. Having such bad gas that his whole body tightens up. I just couldn't not imagine going through this on his end of it. It's no good all around.

Well everything went great. We had a bit of a issue during the c-section, or I guess it was just prior to the c-section. Come to find out I have at least four more ruptured discs in my back than I thought, so they could not do the spinal block so I had to have general anast. That freaked Dave out a bit cause he knew that was the last thing I wanted and they just came out of the OR and said he would not be able to come in because I was already put out. He freaked and was asking if I consented to it and all. Then about 15 mins laster Dean came out of the OR and Dave took care of him for the following 7 hours until I totally woke up and was able again. But everything is getting easier and easier everyday. The main complaint I have is my back, it was very irratated with the attempt of the spinal block. But, Dean was totally healthy no breathing issues, 8 pounds 7.6 oz, head and chest were 14.5, not one issue. It was great.
